5 questions for our production manager
1) Martin, what motivates you personally in your work in production management and what makes MCS special for you as an employer?
Every day, MCS produces high-quality products that reach our customers on time. The feedback and direct positive customer responses give me a clear sense of achievement.
I myself turn the screws that lead to these results. That is particularly motivating!
As MCS also offers innovative customer-specific solutions in development, new technologies and the resulting manufacturing techniques are always a topic of discussion.
Dynamic, innovative and always future- and solution-oriented – that is what makes MCS special.
2) What does a typical working day look like for you in production, or is there even such a thing?
My daily routine at MCS is interrupted by continuous improvement and optimisation tasks.
The day is characterised on the one hand by the interaction between development, sales and purchasing, and on the other hand by planning, briefing employees and meeting delivery deadlines.
3) What has been your most exciting or unusual project in production so far?
It is always exciting when projects start whose products are installed in public spaces. MCS has a strong presence in public spaces with its own developments and services, which are used on a daily basis.
4) How do you ensure that assembly quality and soldering processes remain consistent with ever smaller components?
In addition to the technology and soldering processes used, our trained and motivated employees are our top priority. They are at the heart of our assembly process.
Through further training and the daily application of their expertise, combined with an open feedback culture, production is always ready to meet the increasing demands of miniature electronics.
5) And one more technical question: In which cases is THT still indispensable in your production, even though SMD is becoming increasingly widespread?
Despite the increasing availability of SMD components, THT remains indispensable in areas with mechanical stress,
high current, legacy designs and safety-critical applications.
However, MCS also offers professional support for redesign, component selection and conversion of the affected PCBs to SMD if various components are discontinued.
